Megan Kaltenbach

Fashion Denver first worked with Megan Kaltenbach back in June when we sponsored her trunk show at the Forest Room 5. (Check out pictures from the event here!)

I sadly wasn’t a part of the Fashion Denver team back in June, but was lucky enough to meet Megan Kaltenbach for a meeting last week to see where the talented jewelry designer is now – months after her successful trunk show.

I wanted to meet Megan for multiple reasons. One reason being that her jewelry is AMAZING. Second reason being that, like me, she was a student-athlete in college striving towards a future in fashion.

If you don’t know about Megan Kaltenbach, trust me: you want to.

Quick Background:

Megan moved to Colorado at the age of four and later went on to attend Smoky Hill High School where she excelled in track. And when I say she excelled I mean, she excelled. She collected 14 State Titles, was inducted into the Colorado Women’s Sports Hall of Fame and was awarded a scholarship to the University of North Carolina where she was a 2-time NCAA champion.

GINO VELARDI FASHION SHOW 2013

I had the pleasure of first meeting Gino Velardi at a fashion show in early September where he told me that he specializes in beautifully made, custom cocktail dresses and evening gowns. He stole my attention right then and there. Not to be dramatic, but let’s just say cocktail dresses and evening gowns are what make my heart beat.

Ever since that day I have been anxiously, and somewhat impatiently, waiting for his 2013 Fashion Show.

His first solo show in four years was held on Thursday, October 3 and surpassed all of my expectations. However, I wouldn’t expect anything less from the well-known designer who was named Denver’s Best Fashion Designer at the Denver Style Expo back in 2011. His style is fearlessly sexy, using high-end and luxurious fabrics to create elegant looks.

I arrived at the EXDO Event Center with an entertaining entourage of women led by the fabulous Brandi Shigley. Out of the office and in San Diego with Infxous Scrubs!

Hello world!

Besides producing fashion events, one of my biggest passions is helping designers and other small businesses grow their businesses. I am having the pleasure of working with designer Melody Merrit of Infxous Scrubs! We’ve been consulting with Melody for the past couple of years and are watching her take her dream and turn it into reality.

Melody designs stylish scrubs for the medical and spa industries and it has been a dream of hers to get her designs into production and into a trade show. Well, that dream is here! We are spending the week in San Diego assisting Melody at the Uniform Retailer Trade show! I’ve been working to design her website www.infxousscrubs.com , re-branding her logo with an updated look, and designing all of her marketing materials (flyers, business cards, and banners). Now, I’m here to help get her out their to the retailers and distributors!

We’re having a great time here. Today we spent 6 hours setting up the booth. Assembling all of the parts and pieces of our racks and tables and steaming all of the clothes has been tiring, but we’re getting our second wind for the fashion show happening tonight!

Wine, Women & Shoes

I speak for many women when I say that the pairing of wine and shoes is a true art form, which was showcased beautifully this past Saturday, September 21^st at the Four Seasons Hotel Denver.

When I first heard of the Wine, Women and Shoes event I thought that it was specifically made for me; turns out it was made for an even better cause: Child Advocates – Denver CASA. CASA hand selects the most qualified volunteers to represent the best interests of abused and neglected children in the Denver Juvenile Courts. Donations are made to the vision that one day all children will have a safe and nurturing environment where they can thrive.
