Vintage Barbie Clothes Review

FREE AND AN EVENT FUN FOR THE KIDDOS!

Friday, April 10th at 10am-10:45am
Where: Online at ZOOM!

We are so excited to meet up with our friends online at the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys to bring a little Friday fun to our eyes as we review vintage Barbie clothes!

My connection with this magical little museum is my friend Wendy! We knew each other from way back in the day (Circa 2006) when we were playing kickball, seeing shows at the Hi-Dive, and I was hosting BINGO at Sputnik. She’s such a ray of sunshine! I hope you’ll tune in to watch our little program we’re going to bring you!

Brandi Shigley and Wendy LittlepageThis is us in 2010. I’m not sure where we were, but we fancy!

Now, on with the program!

A note from Wendy Littlepage, director.

Every museum has to figure out what belongs in its collection. For the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys, that means reviewing hundreds of toys and dolls a year. We often bring in experts and community members to help us winnow down donations to items that best represent different times, styles, and ideas. We’re excited to work with Brandi Shigley and … Read more!

COVID-19; A threat to the health and economy of our communities.

From our friends over at B.Fresh

COVID-19; A threat to the health and economy of our communities. During these strange times, we must protect ourselves from ourselves. Being the social creatures that we are, this concept of social distancing seems more foreign than bat stew! Yet, it is the harsh reality we are currently faced with. Socially distancing ourselves to dead the spread of this global pandemic known as coronavirus. Of course, it is our civic duty to keep those most at risk, safe.

In order to do so, we must cancel life as we know it! First, we were told no gatherings of large crowds. SXSW; canceled. Denver’s 420 festival; canceled. The NBA, NHL, and NCAA March Madness tournament; canceled! Things already weren’t looking good!

Then they got a whole lot worse. Gatherings of 250 people or more; canceled. Gatherings of 50 people or more; canceled. Then President Trump recommended no gatherings of 10 people or more. Restaurants and bars were ordered to take-out only for 8 weeks, Colorado’s ski resorts ceased operations and Las Vegas… Never thought we’d see the day that Las Vegas closed.

Ok, we just went from unprecedented to weird and strange real quick! So, … Read more!

The Urban Angels, making a difference through creativity

The Urban Angels

When we had our boutique on Bannock Street, I had the pleasure of meeting and becoming dear life-changing friends with Peggy and Mary, two women with some of the biggest hearts that I’ve ever met. They walked into the shop and it was like they brought the sunshine with them! As I began to know them over the years, I saw how much they love serving the community, not just locally, but internationally. They began to rub off on me and inspire me to serve my community.

How did you ladies become the “Urban Angels”?

We were dubbed The Urban Angels by a friend who lived in Downtown Denver and observed our work with the homeless and shared our love for the city of Denver and those who call it home.

What is the mission of the Urban angels:

Our mission is to bring encouragement and hope to those in need, especially children around the world.  We have been lucky enough to give our dresses and care packages to children in Denver, Haiti, Honduras, Peru, Guatemala, and the Philippines.

What can others do to serve?

Start in your own backyard and don’t feel like any gesture is too small to … Read more!

Hulu’s new series HIGH FIDELITY will be taking over Angelo’s Cd’s & More on Broadway

When I was in college, I picked up the book High Fidelity and I couldn’t put it down until it was done. Then, I saw the movie of the book with John Cusak and loved it. Well, now!!! Even more exciting, the news came across my desk that there is a new series that Hulu is doing!

The show stars Zoë Kravitz (also an executive producer) as Rob Brooks, a female record store owner in the rapidly gentrified neighborhood of Crown Heights, Brooklyn who revisits past relationships through music and pop culture, while trying to get over her one true love. It’s a departure from the 95’ novel and beloved 2000 film but looks good!

Hulu’s new series HIGH FIDELITY will be taking over Angelo’s Cd’s & More on Broadway this Thursday, February 13 through Saturday, February 15! By the way, I’ve been shopping at Angelo’s since I was in highschool (early 90s!)

You are cordially invited to stop in to try the Hulu/Spotify “Love Anthem Generator”, hear live music from local talent, and win promotional items from the series. #HighFidelity debuts only on Hulu this Valentine’s Day!
