Hey, Denver creatives! It’s me, Brandi McMichael, formerly Brandi Shigley – yahooooo, I took the plunge and got hitched! But that’s not the only exciting news I’ve got for you. In case you haven’t heard, I’ve officially taken the reins as the Executive Producer of CreativeMornings Denver. What started as a co-hosting and shadowing alongside the fantastic Dave Momper has now become a full-blown love affair with Denver’s creative community.

For those who know me as the founder of Fashion Denver, you know I’ve always been passionate about fostering connections within our local fashion scene. But now, I’m turning my attention to something that’s been brewing for the past year – CreativeMornings Denver. It’s not just an event; it’s a celebration of our city’s creative spirit.

Very nearly “couture for a cause,” a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Littleton-based nonprofit Hope Held by a Horse, an organization that emotionally supports women with breast cancer by providing healing horses for animal therapy so women can learn, grow, and heal.

While the fashion industry is vital to American culture and self expression, the impact to the environment is hard to ignore. The U.S. Geological Survey found that 71% of microplastics found in samples of river water came from fibers. Scientists estimate that, globally, 35% of the microplastics found in oceans can be traced to textiles, making them the largest source of microplastic pollution in the world’s oceans. (Bloomberg)

Meow Wolf is committed to sustainability and as such, many of the costumes designed by Wardrobe Coordinator Kate Major are reused, upcycled, and recreated from unwanted materials–as was the case for her look presented at the Spring ‘23 Paper Fashion Show.
