A Wave of Inspiration Rips Through City Hall at DFW

Denver Fashion Weekend: NIGHT ONE: Saturday // November 9 // 8 PM // City Hall AmphitheaterDFW-night-two-290x290

Denver Fashion Weekend. Oh yes, it is a weekend that all of us fashionable Denverlites look forward to all year.  I was particularly excited for this event after getting a sneak peak into 303 Magazine’s DFW Fall Print Issue that had a Lady Gaga-esque appeal.  For me, an overly dramatic editorial photo is the epitome of LUXE – so from that picture on, I was impatiently waiting to see what 303 Magazine had in store for us eager attendees.

We arrived around 8 PM knowing that fashion shows typically start fashionably late. Both the VIP and General Admission Line ran down the entire street, making me thankful that my outfit choice was spot on for the situation – a warm faux fur vest, paired with leather pants and closed toe stilettos.

Once we arrived inside City Hall Amphitheater we snapped a few pictures at the 303 Magazine Photo Booth, grabbed a couple cocktails, mingled with Denver’s fashion elite, and then made our way to our prime seats in the overly packed venue.  The fashion show didn’t start until after 10:00 pm due to the … Read more!

DESIGNER-A-DAY: Kim Tinnell

TODAY’S FEATURED DESIGNER-A-DAY
FOR THE FASHION DENVER HOLIDAY MARKET

Name: Kim Tinnell

Business: Perfect Tin

When were you first inspired to design? I got my undergraduate degree in studio art with a focus on mixed media. I really enjoyed taking everyday objects and turning them into art. One day I was perusing a vintage shop and came across an old 1950s tin Band Aid container with a woman on it and I thought, “That would be an awesome bracelet.”

What will you be showing at Fashion Denver’s Holiday Market? I will be showing my upcycled, one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry. All my pieces are hand cut from vintage tins. I have earrings, bracelets, and necklaces.

If you had to pick one piece from your collection that most represents your personality, which would it be?  I made a bracelet out of a vintage Curad tin (circa 1950). It is playful, yet refined. The bracelet reminds me of the Pop Art period, when a lot of artists used imagery from advertising. This is one of my favorite movements in Art History.

“SPA”-A-DAY: Kai Med Spa

TODAY’S FEATURED SPA OF THE DAY
FOR THE FASHION DENVER HOLIDAY MARKET

Business: Kai Med Spa

When were you first inspired to open Kai Med Spa? Ted Lin is the owner of Kai Med Spa. His inspiration came through working in his general practice of medicine. He worked with a patient who was ailing for months. She was not responding to any of his physical treatment suggestion and she talked a great deal about a mark on her face at each appointment. Dr. Lin did not ignore the comments about the mole, but he was not listening in a way that he could understand the sort of image problems it was causing. Finally after months, he agreed to remove the spot. An unbelievable transformation occurred afterward. Her entire demeanor changed. Her physical health improved drastically and her self esteem and self image increased. It was then that he realized that sometimes there are things about ourselves that can hinder growth on the inside. It inspired him to listen closer to his patients but to also pursue the business of a medical spa. The connection between paying attention to what is going on with the outside of your body can absolutely … Read more!
