Fashion Denver is excited to spotlight Skye Barker Maa, fashion designer, arts entrepreneur, educator, and the creative force behind Skye Aire, as she takes center stage at CreativeMornings Denver for its October gathering!
This month’s global theme is ALTITUDE, and we’re taking that inspiration quite literally. The event will be held inside a former airplane hangar in Denver’s historic Lowry neighborhood, once home to Lowry Air Force Base.
Talk about a setting that encourages big ideas to take flight!
Meet Skye Barker Maa: Creativity Without Boundaries
Skye isn’t just designing fashion. She’s building creative worlds!
As the founder of four distinct arts enterprises spanning music, dance, fashion, and theatre, Skye has built a career around the belief that creativity doesn’t have to fit neatly into one category.
Her work explores fashion as a powerful medium for identity, storytelling, cultural expression, and innovation.
From the runway to the classroom, Skye brings an entrepreneurial spirit to everything she creates, demonstrating that artistic vision and business savvy can make a pretty fabulous combination.
She also serves as an adjunct professor at Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design (RMCAD), where she encourages emerging creatives to develop their own artistic voices while building the practical skills needed to thrive in today’s creative industries.
Her mission? To inspire the next generation of creative leaders and demonstrate how fashion and the arts can shape culture, create opportunity, and spark innovation.

As the founder of Fashion Denver and producer of CreativeMornings Denver, I have the incredible honor of being part of two communities that celebrate creativity, connection, and the people who make Denver such a vibrant place to live.
There’s something especially meaningful about seeing these two worlds come together, and having Skye Barker Maa take the CreativeMornings stage is a perfect example!
For more than two decades, Fashion Denver has celebrated the designers, artists, and visionaries who shape our city’s fashion landscape. Through CreativeMornings, I get to continue that mission on an even broader creative stage, bringing together people from all walks of life to share ideas, spark inspiration, and build community.
Whether it’s on a fashion runway or behind a CreativeMornings microphone, my passion remains the same: celebrating creative people, sharing their stories, and creating opportunities for meaningful connections.
