On Wednesday, August 26, Fashion Denver founder Brandi McMichael is taking the stage at MCA Denver’s Mixed Taste to talk about one of our very favorite subjects: STREET FASHION! 👟🔥

And because this is Fashion Denver, we couldn’t just talk about fashion.

We had to make it walk.

Ludlow Mining Strike + Street Fashion?!

That’s the wonderfully unexpected premise behind MCA Denver’s Mixed Taste.

The long-running lecture series pairs two seemingly unrelated topics for one evening of storytelling, curiosity, and unexpected connections. This edition brings together the Ludlow Mining Strike + Street Fashion at MCA Denver’s Holiday Theater.

The evening begins with Tony Garcia, a playwright, director, and actor who serves as the Executive Artistic … Read more!

There is something incredibly special about watching creativity come alive through the eyes of a child.

Fashion Denver’s Summer Fashion Camp transformed Thrive Workplace into a colorful design studio as young designers spent the day imagining, creating, and celebrating sustainable fashion. This year’s theme, Resort Remix, challenged campers to transform upcycled sheer curtains into stylish swimsuit coverups, proving that creativity doesn’t begin at the fabric store. Sometimes it begins by seeing something ordinary in an entirely new way.

Before diving into the fabrics, campers filled their pages with colorful drawings and big ideas. Then the real fun began! They wrapped, tied, twirled, clipped, and zhooshed colorful sheer curtains into fabulous resort-inspired looks. There were giggles, impromptu runway walks, and lots of “Look what I made!” moments as every little designer discovered their own unique style.

Before diving into their projects, campers heard from several incredible members of Denver’s creative community.

Our little designers also got to spend time with some amazing creative friends! Emily Clarendon made learning about the color wheel bright, colorful, and full of fun. Michael Sullivan of HAUS HOLD had everyone striking poses, practicing their runway walks, and discovering their inner supermodel. To top it all … Read more!

What if jewelry wasn’t simply an accessory, but a tiny sculpture designed to move with you?

This extraordinary illustrated talk dives into one of the most exciting moments in design history, when artists began reimagining jewelry through the lens of modernism. During the mid-century era, the same creative ideas transforming architecture, furniture, and industrial design also found their way into necklaces, brooches, rings, and bracelets, turning everyday adornment into wearable works of art.

Wednesday, August 12th

Through the groundbreaking work of visionary designers like Margaret De Patta, Art Smith, and other influential studio jewelers, you’ll discover how abstraction, movement, negative space, and innovative materials forever changed the way we think about jewelry.

Rather than simply decorating the body, these artists created pieces that interacted with it. Every curve, angle, and opening became part of a larger conversation between sculpture, design, and the person wearing it.

Hosted inside an architecturally significant mid-century modern home, this intimate salon-style experience offers the perfect setting to explore how modernism shaped everything from the buildings we admire to the jewelry we treasure. Through stunning imagery, thoughtful discussion, and carefully selected objects, guests will gain … Read more!
